SplashPlastic are the original and first
prepaid Maestro® debit and MasterCard. It works in much
the same way as a PAYG phone in that you can top it
up with cash at over 34,000 locations throughout the
UK, you can also have part of your wages paid directly
onto the card if your employer is up for it as well
as being able to top up directly from your bank account
if you have one.
Splash Plastic is operated by PrePay Solutions Ltd
who is the company behind many major retailers prepaid
gift cards with companies like Virgin Money, TopShop,
TopMan, Laura Ashley, Comet and LoveFilm. The system
was first launched back in 2001 where more than 1
million people applied and received a card. In 2006
a new and improved card was launched.
Splash Plastic also allows card holders to share
their account with up to four people and can be used
anywhere in the world. Meaning that if you or your
other card holders get stuck in another country with
no money you can simply top their card up from home
and transfer them the cash straight away.
